Best Beaches In Fuerteventura

There are over 150 magnificent beaches that line the vast coastline of Fuerteventura. These are without doubt what this island is most famous for.

Many beaches here stretch for miles so you will not have to worry about overcrowding. In fact, you could spend a day on the beach and not see another person. Below are some of the top playas to check out here.

Playa Grande, Corralejo

Playa Grande measures close to 10 kilometres in length and is one of the longest beaches here. You have the extra benefit of some of the most stunning scenery on the island. Running alongside Playa Grande are the beautiful sand dunes of the Natural Park. To the north you have Isla de Lobos and Lanzarote in the distance.

Playa de Cofete

Cofete beach is another fabulous playa which lies in Jandia in the south of the island. This is actually the longest beach in Fuerteventura with a lengh of 13 kilometres.

Cofete is one of the least accessible beaches on the island which is ideal if you don´t want company. You will need to hire a 4×4 to navigate the 20 kilometre dirt track to reach this beach. Like many hard to access beaches, this is very much a nudist beach. Once here you will love the beautiful Jandia mountains that surround Cofete.

Playa Barca

Playa Barca is an extension of the massive Sotavento beach which lies in Costa Calma. This incredible playa is one of the most beautiful thanks to it´s surroundings. Playa Barca is a like a tropical oasis and lagoon with palm trees lining the edge.

Playa Barca & Hotel Meliá Gorriones.

If you like this beach you may consider staying in Hotel Meliá Gorriones. This lovely hotel overlooks the beach and stunning scenery. One down side is that Playa Barca does not have lifeguards. With this in mind, it´s probably best to look elsewhere if you have the children with you.
